Microsoft Reading Coach latest version: Overview

 


READING COACH BY MICROSOFT

  • Web app: coach.microsoft.com (also desktop app)
  • 3 WAYS TO CHOOSE A PASSAGE/STORY TO READ:
    • AI-CREATE A STORY
      • Choose an animal character (dog, frog, rabbit, etc.)
      • Choose a setting from the 13 options provided (eg, school, island, castle
      • Choose from one of the 8 reading levels
      • Generate story, which will appear on 3 sections, one after another.
      • Start recording your reading of section 1, then section 2, then section 3
      • Overall result shown: overall pronunciation accuracy percentage (eg, 94%); total time taken (out of 20 min); 5 words for further practice
      • If you like, start the recording or your reading of the 5 words. Feedback given on each word read aloud.
    • Read a Passage
      • Pick from the 110 built-in levelled passages from Readworks
      • fiction; nonfiction
      • proceed as above
      • See performance result (accuracy percentage; 5 words to practise further)
    • Add a Passage
      • Paste in your own reading passage
      • Proceed as above
      • See performance result (accuracy percentage; 5 words to practise further)
  • "My PROGRESS"
    • User's personal performance history page
  • Microsoft School Account
    • will serve as an LMS for Reading Coach (eg, seeing overall completion rates; reading passages used; individual Ss' performance)
    • teacher can assign passages, or let Ss create/choose their own passages
