How TALK ME - an AI mobile conversation practice app - works

This is a mobile app. I used BlueStacks to install it on my computer for a test-drive.

After signing up, you have to input some personal details, in particular your language level; preferred English accent, etc.

Then you are set to start.

When you start, you can choose from one of 4 practice modes.

Let's say, I have chosen the first mode: 'Speak Freely'.

The next screen shows 2 possible ways to go ahead:
- Speak Freely
- speak with Tutor

The conversation with start on the next page:

The conversation partner will begins with: 'Hi Paul, how's your day going?"

At the bottom of this screen, there is one tab which says 'Hints'. When clicked, it will suggest 3 ways to respond to the partner's utterance.

You can then start chatting, by clicking the microphone. When you stop speaking, your utterance will be transcribed and shown on the right.

Your partner\s next utterance will then be shown on the left, accompanied (slightly later) by his/her voice. Then if you like, you can click on his/her microphone to listen to that utterance again.

The chat then continues .... When you are ready for your next utterance, click the microphone.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

MY OBSERVATIONS:

1. Not as 'real time' as Grok.

2. But it is specifically designed for language learners (eg, Hints; Listen Again ...) Also the simultaneous transcriptions will help (especially visual learners).

3. Designed for ESL learners to work on Speaking in the form of 'guided conversation'

4. Not totally free.
