Created a READING lesson plan for 'Evolution of Beauty' using Toolsday

Toolsaday is a multipurpose AI platform with over a hundred functions: https://toolsaday.com/

UNDER WRITING, there is one function which is "Lesson Plan Generator'

MY ATTEMPT:

1. Subject: English   Grade level: Middle School   Topic: Reading Comprehension   Duration: 45 min

2. Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to

(1) tell the beauty standards of different times in human history based on the attached reading passage;

(2) complete a flashcard deck task which contains some new vocab items in the attached passage

3. I then uploaded the passage 'Evolution of Beauty'

4. I could choose the teaching method such as 'lecture', 'group discussion', 'PBL' ....

4. Generate

OBSERVATIONS ON OUTPUT:

The output lesson plan: LESSON PLAN GENERATED WITH TOOLSADY.docx

a. A very detailed lesson plan generated.

b. Some sections, such as 'Formative Assessment', may not be needed by teachers in Hong Kong.

Had NotebookLM generate a mindmap from an uploaded passage: 'The layers of a forest'

Earlier, I tried using NotebookLM to generate a mindmap from a URL (MagicSchool functionality). NotebookLM was not able to do that.

Just now, I uploaded a short passage (DOCX) about the layers of forest to NotebookLM, and asked it to generate a mindmap. This time, it has done a great job. The resulting mindmap is expandable and collapsible, and can be downloaded as a static PNG file.

Unlike my previous attempt with Gemini, the resulting mindmap has more levels (4, this time), and is made of word boxes.

NOTE, THOUGH:

- Presenting the Mindmap as an expandable one can only be done from one's LMNotebook.

- This dynamic mindmap cannot be shared via a link.

Had Gemini generate a mindmap from an URL - the functionality of MagicSchool AI

The top-level dashboard of MagicSchool shows a long list of functions:

The 'Filter by Category' may offer some help; still it's quite packed with functionality.

Hence, I copied the link of the MagicSchool, went to Gemini, to see if it could generate a mindmap for me. I used the 'Create Image' function.

MY PROMPT:

Please create a visual mindmap showing what AI platform MagicSchool, https://app.magicschool.ai/tools, can do.

OUTPUT:

https://gemini.google.com/share/528f72681cfe

Here is a visual mindmap showing the key capabilities of the MagicSchool AI platform:

To break down the branches of the mindmap, here is a detailed list of what MagicSchool can do, categorized by function:

OBSERVATIONS

1. It IS able to generate a mindmap from a URL.
2. The resulting mindmap is not interactive; just a static image.
3. It does not have many sub-levels.
4. But I find the Summary Outline quite useful, though it only has 2 levesl.

I then tried the same task with NotebookLM, but despite its built-in MindMap function, it cannot generate a mindmap from the URL.
